HUSKY - HEALTHCARE FOR UNINSURED KIDS AND YOUTH:

Case Management services and application assistance are provided to eligible clients needing HUSKY insurance and/or Healthy Start services for pregnant women. Support, information and referral services are provided. Prenatal workshops are provided by the Bristol Hospital Exchange Club Parent and Child Center.

HUSKY / HUSKY A/ HUSKY B

HUSKY (Healthcare for UninSured Kids and Youth) is a federal and state (DSS) managed health insurance program for uninsured children ages 18 and under who are U.S. citizens or legal permanent residents. Coverage level is primarily determined by family income. There is NO asset restriction for any level. Higher income families pay co-pays and sometimes premiums. Parents choose a managed care plan.

HEALTHY START

Healthy Start is a health insurance program for low income pregnant women. Services include prenatal care and all other medical services, case management, and other supportive services for the pregnant woman and for her children ages birth to three.

These services are funded by the State Department of Social Services through the Hartford Health Department. The overall goals of this initiative are to reduce infant mortality and morbidity and low birth weight in Connecticut; and to increase and improve health care coverage/ insurance and access for children and eligible pregnant women.
