Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP)

RSVP Coordinator:
Pat Malone
email: pmalone@bcoct.org
(860) 584-9533

The Greater Bristol RSVP serves over 75 non-profit organizations throughout the Bristol, Burlington, Plainville, Plymouth, and Terryville areas. Volunteers provide services that these organizations could not otherwise afford.

This program recruits and places people age 55 and over with non-profit community agencies and organizations needing volunteers. Despite having "retired" in the title, RSVP welcomes working persons. Volunteers choose enjoyable and rewarding positions that utilize their skills, interests, and life experiences to help others. Many people choose to take ongoing or permanent assignments. Some volunteers for temporary assignments. Others make themselves available only part of the year. The choice is yours.

Volunteers stay active, meet new friends, have fun, and take pride in their contributions.

     Other Benefits Include:

  • Free Insurance
  • Mileage Reimbursement
  • Recognition Luncheon
  • Special Events

     Some Sample Positions Include:

  • Literacy Tutor
  • Computer Coach

  • Handy Person
  • Drivers
  • Recreation Assistant

"Volunteering has been an important part of my retirement years. I enjoyed working with children as a tutor and mentor. My advice, just try it! You will be rewarded."
- Bob Conrad (5 year volunteer)

"I was a young retiree. As a volunteer I use my grant writing skills but without the pressure and time demands of full-time employment. At the same time I help a non-profit organization unable to pay for these services. In addition, I get out of the house and meet interesting people"
- Ann Eberhard (3 year volunteer)
