Retired & Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP)

RSVP Project Director:
Kathy Cayer
email: kcayer@bcoct.org

(860) 584-9533

The Greater Bristol RSVP serves over 50 non-profit organizations throughout the Bristol, Burlington, Plainville, Plymouth, and Terryville areas. Volunteers provide services that these organizations could not otherwise afford.

This program recruits and places people age 55 and over with non-profit community agencies and organizations . Despite having "retired" in the title, RSVP welcomes working persons. Volunteers choose enjoyable and rewarding positions that utilize their skills, interests, and life experiences to help others. Many people choose to take ongoing or permanent assignments. Some volunteer for temporary assignments. Others make themselves available only part of the year. The choice is yours.

Volunteers stay active, meet new friends, have fun, and take pride in their contributions.

     Other Benefits Include:

  • Supplemental Insurance
  • Recognition
  • Community Involvement

     Positions Include:

  • Literacy Tutor
  • Computer Coach
  • Museum Guide
  • Children's Mentor
  • Handy Person
  • Drivers
  • Recreation Assistant

Please contact Kathy Cayer if you are interested in becoming a volunteer!

RSVP is sponsored by the Bristol Community Organization and is federally funded by the Corporation for the National and Community Service. The Greater Bristol RSVP is a member agency of the United Way of West Central Connecticut.

"Volunteering has been an important part of my retirement years. I enjoyed working with children as a tutor and mentor. My advice, just try it! You will be rewarded."
- Bob Conrad (RSVP volunteer)

"I was a young retiree. As a volunteer I use my grant writing skills but without the pressure and time demands of full-time employment.  In addition, I get out of the house and meet interesting people"
- Ann Eberhard (RSVP volunteer)
